Something for Everyone
Welcome to our Labyrinth
The labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a purposeful path. Labyrinths have long been used as tools for meditation and prayer.
Unlike mazes, labyrinths are unicursal. They have one well-defined path that leads us into the center and back out again. There are no tricks, no dead ends or cul-de- sacs, no intersecting paths. The journey through the labyrinth is a metaphor for our life’s journey. It represents a journey to our center and back again out into the world.
Our labyrinth is a seven circuit or cretan labyrinth. Through the centuries, in Greece and throughout the Mediterranean, a common symbol began to be associated with the labyrinth and its legends. It consists of a single path winding back and forth to a center point in a series of seven concentric rings.
Many people visit a labyrinth for a particular reason. Some might see the labyrinth as a place to contemplate a problem. Some walk a labyrinth to find peace or feel calm; some find the labyrinth is a place in which spirituality is heightened. Walking the labyrinth allows us to move on a predetermined path while contemplating the undetermined path – be it spiritual,
Once you enter the labyrinth, walk the path at your own pace until you reach the center. At the center please take time to sit or stand and be still. Perhaps this time of stillness will help you find an answer to a problem, or it might be a time in which you offer a prayer. Take the time you need to focus and meditate. When you are ready walk the path back to the opening.
Transitioning…while keeping memories alive.
In an effort to remain faithful to those honored in our Rose Garden while creating a more sustainable yet expandable solution, we are excited to announce the creation of the Faith Community UCC Memorial Walkway.
The design of the walkway is created with “memorial” bricks interspersed with paving stones. The Memorial Walkway is open to anyone who would like to remember, honor or give thanks for someone special in their lives, even the four legged variety.
