Our Pastor

Rev. Peg M. Faulmann

Previous to her pastoral call, the Rev. Peg M. Faulmann was heavily involved in worship and music ministry in the Roman Catholic Church. After obtaining a Masters of Theology and Ministry, but not being permitted to be ordained as a woman in the Catholic Church, Peg found her home in the United Church of Christ, where she continued her music ministry in Toledo, Ohio.

During that time, Peg and her spouse, Ervin, owned an environmental testing and research laboratory in Toledo. Peg managed the business, and Erv provided the science end along with several employees. After selling the business and moving to Seattle, Washington, Peg obtained her MDiv at Seattle School of Theology and Ministry, where she studied with students from eleven different denominations. Peg was ordained at Keystone United Church of Christ (Seattle) in June, 2011, where she was serving as Associate Pastor. In the years following,

The Faulmanns moved back to the Midwest where Peg pastored two UCC’s and a United Methodist church. Peg led two of the congregations through the process of becoming “Open and Affirming,” and also co-founded a new chapter of PFLAG in Michigan. While in Michigan, Peg was also involved with “Inclusive Justice,” a statewide coalition of faith and community leaders that was a huge part of the fight for marriage equality. Peg had the blessing of marrying the first lesbian couple in Shiawassee county the very weekend after same-sex marriage was legalized. Pastor Peg also has been seen marching in support of the “Black Lives Matter” movement, and is currently learning where her activism can come alive in the Chicago area.

Peg and Erv moved from South Bend, Indiana to Island Lake, Illinois in June of 2021 to be closer to their married daughters, one of which is the mother of their two grandsons. Living with them lakeside is their little rescue dog, Suzy. Peg’s free time is spent gardening and volunteering at “The Pink Door” thrift store in McHenry, which supports the “Family Health Partnership Clinic.” Peg is thrilled to be able to continue her passion for creating and leading worship, preaching, and shepherding the good folks at Faith Community UCC.

ARTICLE II. PURPOSE

The purpose of our church is to give loving service to God and to humankind. ARTICLE III. DOCTRINE

This church recognizes the Bible as the sufficient rule of faith and practice, and holds that living in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ is the true test of fellowship. Each member shall have the right to follow the word of God according to the dictates of his/her own conscience, under the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. The following Statement of Faith, therefore, is not a test but an expression of the spirit in which the church interprets the Word of God.

We believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit, God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God, and to your deeds we testify:

You call the worlds into being, create persons in your own image, and set before each one the ways of life and death.

You seek in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.

You judge people and nations by your righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to yourself.

You bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues and races.

You call us into your church

to accept the cost and joy of discipleship,

to be your servants in the service of others,

to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil,

to share in Christ’s baptism and eat at his table,

to join him in his passion and victory.

Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto you. Amen.
